Wildflower Cove
The extreme topography of this site was the main driver of the design on this project. Building terraces on the Longstreet Ct. house brought about the idea to create a terraced foundation system that would allow for a house to be constructed on this kind of slope. As a result, the house appears to rise up from the topography, the butterfly roof only adding to the feeling of upward movement. Experientially, however, the house moves downward, with the carport being the highest occupiable space in the house, stepping down to the entry and the public spaces of the home. The stairwell is held against the side of the house, and runs straight to the lowest level, with a landing in the middle to access the private, primary suite level. Below is a private guest suite. Each level has its own wrap-around deck and private, outdoor seating space — at the entry level, this is a screened-in porch, at the primary suite level, it includes an outdoor shower and hot tub.
